Position Overview

The Customer Support Assistant is an entry level training and development position to prepare the employee for other opportunities as a Customer Support Specialists, Project Estimator, and/or Parts Support Specialist.  This position works closely with other team members to facilitate the quoting, order process and customer support for Quaker's Lumberyard Sales and Support Team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review and process Customer quotes and orders.
  • Work as part of a team to meet the needs of assigned Sales Rep's and Customers.
  • Handle incoming calls and customer service inquiries to identify and assess customers' needs to achieve the highest level of satisfaction.
  • Become proficient in Quaker's Q1 Quote and Order Platform.
  • Learn and become proficient regarding the Quaker window and door product lines.
  • Build ongoing relationships and trust with customer accounts.


  • Ability to adapt/respond to different types of personalities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong phone etiquette and active listening sytle.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.

 Preferred Education and Experience

Expectation is that individual has achieved a minimum level of education and/or related expertise to qualify for this position.

  • High School diploma or equivalent GED
  • Lumberyard or retail sales experience a plus.

Competencies and Skills

  • Math Skills: Basic math skills, ability to convert decimals to fractions
  • Computer Skills: Basic keyboarding skills; familiarity standard programs like Word, Outlook and Excel

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Compensation Package

  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Pay Level: 6
  • Starting Pay: $14.14 - $14.39 after 60 days
  • FLSA: Hourly, Non-Exempt
  • Commission Plan: Employee is eligible for department sales commission plan after one year of service and all training requirements have been completed.
  • Profit Sharing: Employee is eligible for "Profit Sharing Program" after 90 days of continuous employment prorated based on full months worked over a calendar year.
  • 401K Retirement Plan: Employee is eligible for Quaker 401k plan after 1 year of continuous employment.
  • Medical/Dental: Employee is eligible to participate in Quaker's medical, dental plan after 60 days of continuous service.
  • Other Benefit Programs: Employee is eligible for additional benefit and insurance programs after 60 days of continuous service that include life insurance, AFLAC programs
